What to expect, what to bring
Potential medical cannabis patients are typically evaluated in 45 to 60 minutes in a relaxed, stress free office setting. All patients are asked to bring the following information to your appointment:
- A picture ID verifying your identity (driver’s license, passport, or other legal document)
- Date of birth
- Current physical address
- current email address
- Medical records that support the qualifying condition for which medical marijuana is being requested.
Once your evaluation is complete and confirms your qualifying condition, our Medical Marijuana staff will immediately enter your required personal information in the patient registry via the online portal. This registration allows the Board of Pharmacy to verify your marijuana card application after which The Ohio Board of Pharmacy then contacts you via your email address in order for you to finish your portion of the registration online. This process should take you only a matter of minutes to complete in the privacy of your home. Your marijuana card is valid for cannabis product purchases for up to 12 months. If you wish to continue therapy with medical marijuana after 12 months, you will need to be reevaluated and re-registered every 12 months. As stated above, it is likely that marijuana products available at dispensaries in Ohio will initially be in short supply. It takes time for approved cultivators to grow and harvest the first crop, process each plant, and test for quality, content, and safety. As more cultivators, processors, and dispensaries are fully operational, this will be less of a problem.
